Description
This Bright Blue Metallic 1991 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a Swedish-market G60 that was stored for approximately 20 years through 2019, and it was acquired by the seller in 2024 and imported to the US. Now showing 110k kilometers (~62k miles), the car is powered by a supercharged 1.8-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 15″ BBS wheels, anti-lock disc brakes, Hella auxiliary lights, and power windows as well as heated Recaro front sport seats trimmed in patterned gray cloth. In preparation for the sale the rear shocks and wheel bearings were replaced along with the wiper and blower motor relays. This G60 GTI is now offered at no reserve in California with a certificate from Volkswagen, a stamped service booklet, Swedish-language service records, and a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The car is finished in Bright Blue Metallic, and a color-coordinated grille brow has been added. The car also has Hella auxiliary lights, headlight washers, fog lights, a roof-mounted antenna, and a rear hatch with a spoiler, heated glass, and a wiper. The side mirror motors do not work and the mirrors require manual adjustment.
Silver-finished 15″ BBS wheels are mounted with 195/50 Yokohama tires. Anti-lock braking is provided by discs at each corner. The seller tells us he replaced the rear shocks and wheel bearings.
The heated and manually adjustable Recaro front sport seats are trimmed in gray cloth with patterned accents, and the car has power windows. An aftermarket alarm system had previously been installed, and it was removed by the seller. The head unit has also been removed and replaced by a blanking plate, though Pioneer speakers are retained in the parcel shelf.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 260-km/h speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a digital display, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 100k kilometers (~62k miles).
The supercharged 1.8-liter SOHC inline-four features Bosch engine management and a side-mounted intercooler. Factory-rated output was 160 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. The spark plugs, fuel hoses, belts, exhaust fasteners, and additional components are noted to have been replaced when the car was removed from storage in 2019, and Swedish-language service records are provided in the gallery below. Work performed since 2024 has involved installing an Aircon fan blower motor and replacing the alternator, starter motor, and battery. The oil was also changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is delivered to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle. The undercarriage was steam-cleaned in preparation for the sale.
