This 1987 Volkswagen Golf GTI 16V is finished in silver over black and gray and is powered by a 1.8-liter 16V inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The car was acquired by the seller in November 2020 following time in Massachusetts, Michigan, Florida, and California. Service performed in preparation for the sale is said to have included changing the fluids and replacing the timing belt and water pump. This Mk2 GTI shows 16k miles and is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in Diamond Silver Metallic, and the seller notes the hood and roof have been refinished. Features include a seven-bar front grille and corner vent windows as well as extended wheel arches, a front lip spoiler, black window trim, GTI 16V badges, and red striping.

14″ teardrop wheels feature Volkswagen center caps and wear Nitto NT555R tires. GTIs were factory-equipped with a lowered sport-tuned suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, and four-wheel disc brakes.

The leather-wrapped GTI steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The 1.8L 16-valve inline-four features Bosch Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 123 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller states that service in December 2020 included changing the fluids and replacing the timing belt and water pump.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a close-ratio five-speed manual transaxle.
