Description

This 1987 Volkswagen Golf GTI 16V is finished in red over black vinyl and striped gray cloth upholstery and is powered by a 1.8L 16-valve inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 14″ teardrop wheels, disc brakes, a heater, and an Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo. The car spent time in Colorado, Texas, and Washington State before it was acquired by the seller in 2021. This Mk2 GTI shows 205k miles and is now offered at no reserve with a build sheet, manufacturer’s literature, an Alpine owner’s manual, touch-up paint, a clean Carfax report, and a Washington State title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Tornado Red with a black grille, bumper covers, and bodyside moldings. Features include a front lip spoiler, a rear wiper, and tinted windows. The seller states that the windshield was replaced in February 2023. Flaws noted by the seller include a dent in the right-side rocker panel, chipped paint on the front fascia, and door dings.

Silver-finished 14″ teardrop wheels wear older 185/65 Pirelli P4 Four Seasons tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering in addition to four-wheel disc brakes. The inner and outer CV axle boots were replaced in November 2022. Photos show blemishes on the wheels.

The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in black vinyl with red- and gray-striped cloth inserts, and the driver’s seat was reupholstered in December 2022. Equipment includes a heater, crank windows, and an Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo. The passenger seatback release lever is missing, and the mirror is discolored.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 205k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.

The 1.8L 16-valve inline-four is equipped with Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection, and factory-rated output was 123 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque. A knock sensor was replaced in November 2022 along with the fuel pressure regulator.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle.
