Description
This 1986 Volkswagen Golf GTI is finished in white over gray cloth and is powered by a fuel-injected 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The seller is the proprietor of a German import specialist shop, and work in the last 2k miles is said to have included resealing the engine, replacing the clutch, refreshing the brakes, and installing a coilover suspension, a stainless steel exhaust, rebuilt fuel injectors, and more. Now showing 106k miles, this Mk II GTI is offered with a clean Carfax report, some service records, owner’s manuals, spare parts, a window sticker, and a Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in white with black fender flares and red accents around the grille, side moldings, and bumpers. The driver’s fender was reportedly replaced with a fender from a Mk II Jetta after the vehicle hit a deer. A sticker is covering a dent in the hood, and the seller notes areas of rattle can touch up, rust repair in the driver’s floor, and evidence of filler around the passenger-side taillight. Single-piece rectangular headlights are fitted up front.
14″ snowflake-style wheels are wrapped with Ohtsu tires that were installed around 1k miles ago. The car rides lower than stock on a Rokkor coilover kit with Powerflex bushings. The power steering system was removed by a previous owner, though some of the components are said to be included in the sale. Stainless steel brake lines were added, and the brake rotors and pads, wheel bearings, CV joints, and boots were replaced in the last 2k miles per the seller.
The seats are upholstered in gray cloth with patterned inserts, and the driver’s outer bolsters have been patched with duct tape. A JVC head unit is linked with a JL Audio subwoofer, a Sony amplifier, and JBL front speakers.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a six-digit odometer that shows just under 106k miles. The seller notes that the A/C is inoperable, the central display screen is broken, and the turn signals do not self-cancel.
The 1.8-liter inline-four was reportedly resealed by the seller with a new valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, front and rear main seals, as well as a new oil filter housing and water neck gasket. Additional service in the last 2k miles is said to have included replacing the water pump, ignition components, air filter, coolant hoses, engine mounts, and more. An adjustable cam gearing set from Tectonics has been added.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, and a Stage II clutch has reportedly been installed. A Techtonics Tuning stainless steel exhaust and aftermarket tri-Y header were also added, and the fuel system was refreshed with new pumps, fuel filters, and rebuilt injectors.
A factory window sticker is included in the sale, along with factory manuals and some service records.
