This 1986 Volkswagen Golf GTI has been fitted with a 2.0L 16-valve inline-four and is finished in Alpine white over black and grey upholstery. Equipment includes a five-speed manual transaxle, 15″ Team Dynamics Motorsport wheels, Koni coilovers, Recaro seats, a Pioneer CD stereo, Quadruple headlights, a 16-valve-style front lip spoiler, and an aftermarket exhaust system. The car was first sold in Tennessee and was relocated to Michigan when it was acquired by the current owner in January 2023. This MK2 GTI is now offered at no reserve on behalf of the owner with an owner’s manual, manufacturer’s literature, an inspection transfer document, a Carfax report, and a Michigan title.

The car is finished in Alpine White and features a quad headlight grill sourced from a later GTI as well as a 16-valve-style front lip spoiler. The seller notes the roof and hood have been repainted, and exterior blemishes include damaged lower grill trim, dents and chipped paint on the front lower valance, and rust at the bottom of both doors.

Team Dynamics Motorsport Pro Race 15″ wheels are mounted with 205/50 Falken Azenis RT615K+ tires. The car has been fitted with Koni dampers, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes reportedly sourced from a G60 Corrado.

The Recaro Expert seats are trimmed in black vinyl with gray Alcantara inserts and the rear bench is upholstered to match. Carpeted floor mats with embroidered GTI 16v logos line the footwells, and additional appointments include air conditioning, a golf ball-style shift knob, hand-crank windows, billet door pins, and a Pioneer CD stereo.

Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 6,800-RPM-redline tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The multi-function digital display includes a clock and readings for time driven, distance driven, oil temperature, and fuel economy. The six-digit odometer shows 99k miles, approximately 1k of which were added during current ownership. The seller reports the speedometer emits a noise.

The 2.0-liter 9A DOHC 16-valve inline-four was reportedly sourced from a 1991 GTI and installed under previous ownership. The seller reports the alternator, drive belt, and fan switch were replaced in June 2023.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. An aftermarket cat-back exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler has been fitted.
