This 1991 Volkswagen Golf GTI 16V was initially delivered to C. Richard Cronin, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, and was acquired over two decades ago by the seller’s father. Acquired by the seller in 2014, the car is finished in Tornado Red over gray velour cloth upholstery. Power is provided by a 2.0-liter inline-four that has reportedly been fitted with a 1.8L-specification cylinder head, and additional equipment includes a replacement five-speed manual transaxle, a short-throw shifter, a sunroof, a NEUSPEED engine control unit (ECU) tuning chip, aftermarket exhaust components, adjustable Koni dampers, NEUSPEED springs and anti-roll bars, aftermarket 16″ wheels, a MOMO steering wheel, and Recaro front bucket seats. This Mk2 GTI shows 113k miles and is offered at no reserve with a window sticker, a set of BBS wheels, spare and removed parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Tornado Red with black-accented bumpers, and it has been modified with aftermarket hood trim. Additional exterior details include a sunroof, a rear window wiper, and fog lights. The left-front fender was refinished under previous ownership, and corrosion is noted on the left-rear quarter panel, rear window surround, and rear valance.

Aftermarket 16″ alloy wheels are mounted with 205/45 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires. The suspension has reportedly been modified with Koni adjustable dampers in addition to NEUSPEED springs and anti-roll bars. Braking is provided by discs at all four corners. The seller reports that the brakes were serviced and that replacement bearings and rebuilt CV axles were installed under current ownership.

The Recaro front bucket seats and the split-folding rear bench seat are trimmed in gray velour cloth. Features include crank windows, an aftermarket shift knob and shift boot, and a cabin heater. The car is not equipped with a radio.

A MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of the instrument panel, which houses a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset fuel level gauge, and a coolant temperature gauge as well as a digital clock. The six-digit odometer shows 113k miles, approximately 80k of which have been added by the seller and their father.

The 2.0-liter inline-four has reportedly been fitted with a 1.8L-specification cylinder head in addition to a NEUSPEED engine control unit (ECU) tuning chip, a Brospeed exhaust header, a Supersprint exhaust system, and a solid front motor mount. The seller states that the power steering pump was replaced under current ownership. The fuel pump reportedly requires multiple ignition key cycles to function after a period of disuse. A spare Bosch fuel pump is included in the sale.

Power is delivered to the front wheels via a replacement Type 020 five-speed manual transaxle, which has been modified with an Autotech short-throw shifter and a manually adjustable clutch cable. The seller notes a transmission fluid leak from the bellhousing.

A set of BBS RM wheels is included in the sale along with various spare and removed parts.
